Amazon.com Review Many modern homes have up-to-date clocks or mini weather stations that depend on radio-transmitted data to stay calibrated and current. The La Crosse TX6U works outdoors by sensing temperature and transmitting that information to an indoor station. It can transmit to a base up to 80 feet away. The TX6U can be added to augment information coming to La Crosse units already in operation. Remove batteries from base units first and activate sensors; then replace batteries in base units and press no buttons until a display appears. Multiple sensors can be assigned a number so that it will be clear which information from which sensor is displayed. The TX6U operates on two AA batteries. Its housing is made of durable, neutral-tone plastic. For options in wall mounting, two screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The TX6U measures 5-1/2 by 1-1/2 by 1 inch. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its sensors. Each sensor comes with a detailed instruction sheet. --Garland Withers

It Took Two August 27, 2010 LouA I could not find another indoor/outdoor temperature clock I liked so I decided to purchase the sensor unit only. But the first one I got from Amazon did not work. I called La Crosse and their tech dept was very helpful. Long story short they sent me a new sensor which worked right from the start. Just must have caught a bad one from Amazon(nothing against them). Very happy with the product.
Good for an hour or so... August 22, 2010 Harry76 Purchased a La Crosse TX6U outdoor sending unit to to replace the similar one that had gone bad on a Weather Channel version weather station. It worked for about 4 hours after being installed. Then the temperature indication jumped between agreeing with the base unit within several tenths [laying adjacent]and suddenly dropping lower by several degrees, then back again. We put the unit outside where it continued to work for several more weeks in a similar manner; then it just quit altogether...
Do I plan to buy a new one?? No!

LaCross wireless sensor August 20, 2010 Valerie Netto The product is what I ordered. I have not had any problems with Amazon that I have had with ebay.
Just Like Described July 23, 2010 Signman45 Bought this product to monitor outside temperature from my indoor clock. This product works exactly as described.
Just what I needed -- 433MHz July 22, 2010 C. G. King (Horse Country, VA USA) I have a clock that uses this frequency for its remote sensor. My old unit went bad after about 8 years. I like the clock, which still works fine, so I was delighted to find a replacement for the sensor. I put in the batteries and reset the clock and happily, I have the outside temperature displayed again. The sensor fits fine in the old wall mounting so I didn't have to install the new one that came with it.
The battery connections in the old sensor had finally corroded over the very wet winter and although I tried to clean them, it never came back to life. Still, 8 years is a good lifespan for the product. I already have two of the La Crosse wall clocks that use the 915 MHz frequency remote (both share one sensor since they use the same frequency so I already have an extra if my current one goes bad), but my kitchen clock uses this other 433 MHz frequency and I'm very pleased I could replace the sensor without having to replace the clock.
It is important to be aware of what frequency your clock expects before buying a remote. LaCrosse is good about posting that information directly on the sensor. I'm a happy customer (although not so happy about our ridiculous heat!) and recommend this product for a clock that uses the 433 MHz frequency. I guess the LaCrosse weather stations also use this frequency, but it's always good to check.
